Restarting the same biologics after allergic reaction?

Hi all,

I just wondered whether this has been the case for any one. I was on Cimzia for 5 years, worked the best out of any I’ve ever had. Had quite a few infections and then developed hives and drug induced Lupus.

Then tried Enbrel, didn’t work and now on Abatercept infusions again not working. Nurse said maybe Rituxumab but I can recall my consultant saying a couple of months ago that it’s not unheard of to be put back on something that was working once your body has had a rest?

I’ve been for my infusion today to be told my notes had been lost so I’ve got an emergency app with my consultant tomorrow.

Any thoughts as he rushes me in and out that quick?

Hi Sarah,

I was on cimzia and it was a miracle drug. I was taken off it due to persistent vomiting. I was later diagnosed with a gastro condition which explained the symptoms. It was pure coincidence. I asked if I could return to cimzia and my rheum said it would be difficult, although not impossible, to receive funding. It may just be my area though. Do ask and see what he says. Take care.
