I am on Orencia weekly injections at the moment until my Rheumatologist arranges me to be approved for Rituxan infusions. I posted about Orencia and received very positive feedback. I have been on Orencia since June 2017 and I have been very disappointed with the results. I am at the moment in agony, I feel the weather here in Canada has a lot to do with the amount of pain I am in.
Has anyone had Rituxan infusions and can give me some feedback, sideffects, etc. I have had tocizumab infusions and injections, I had no problems with that med other than it stopped working after I had to stop the injections due to other health issues and when I was able to have the injections again they didn't work.
I would appreciate if anyone can give me info regarding Rituxan.
Hope everyone is not suffering too badly with this horrible decease called RD.
Take care everyone, Sue xx

Thank you for your response. I take it that you haven't had any side effects. I was advised that the infusions would be every 6 mths and take 6 to 8 hrs.
I have had infusions if Rituxan for a different condition and aside from the first infusion, which my throat started to close up due to me being allergic to the drug, it worked wonders for me and I fully recommend it. The staff at the infusion center were very quick to administer a steroid and benedryl into my drip to lessen the effects of the allergic reaction and I was fine the rest of the day. I had to have the steroid and benedryl every infusion after that, but no big deal. Rituxan put me into remission that I’ve been in for over a year. They are using this drug for more and more conditions. It is a form of immunotherapy which helps the body to help itself. I wish you the best!
Thank you for your response I found it to be very helpful and to put my mind at ease. It always helps to know what to expect. I just hope that I get approved and it works for me. I should know in about a months time. I wish you and your daughter the very best.
Thank you for for your reply it was very informative and will help me on the day of the infusion. The tocizumab infusions only lasted 1 hr and I was told on here to drink a lot of water on the day and on the previous day to prevent the infusion gIving you a headache. I am planning on the same with this infusion.
I appreciate your information so that I know what to expect.
