Hello, your English is just fine

Most of the people on this site are people who have RA, and a few younger people who started with JIA. If you use the search box top right ypand put in JIA you might find some posts from parents, but I don' think hint there are that many.

What you might find more helpful is to look at the site that is especially for JIA. Here....

jia.org.uk

hello my friends. Here Iam again. my child's been on mtx for two weeks. she takes 12,5 mg per week and we have observed mood changes..would it be a coincidence or this medication might affect her this way...she,s very sensitive these days, easycrying...feeling down...irritated... has anyone noticed similar effects on an 8yo taking mtx for just 2 weeks..sorry my mistakes..English is not my first language

The MTX may be making her feel poorly, it is common when first starting it I'm afraid, it's a strong med & although she's only on a relatively low dose your daughter is only a child & will probably feel the effects more than an adult would. Her other symptoms are probably related to the disease itself, JIA is a painful condition, if you can imagine yourself coping with painful joints, it would make an adult sensitive, teary, down & irritable, it does me when I'm having a flare & until her MTX works properly this is in effect what she's having, her pain isn't being calmed down yet.

Can you talk to her Rheumatologist about all her symptoms? Is he available to speak with between appointments? He may be able to prescribe something until the MTX starts working properly, this can be around 12 weeks or more.

I feel for your daughter, she's going through a difficult time until she becomes better controlled. She needs some love & care just now, please be patient with her. If she's feeling sick, which is a common symptom with MTX, do ask her to for an antiemetic, a tablet that will ease sickness.

Maybe having a read through the NRAS JIA site would help you & the family understand more about your daughter's condition jia.org.uk/

I've had a look at your profile page momlolo & it only shows this post as being sent. You'll need to join the Healthunlocked JIA Parents site to post there, just as you did here. I'm sure the members there will be able to help you, having children with the same condition they'll be able to give you the best advice. If you still have problems posting there let me know & we'll see what we can do.

could you explain my poor English what does it mean to "have a flare".. I've been reading this all the time but I can,t get it yet...thanks...I suppose it's like a crises...

Yes, sorry. A flare is similar to how your daughter is without her medication, when her symptoms were very bad & why you took her to her doctor initially. So, if her affected joints are hot & swollen they will be very painful, this could be considered a 'flare'or she is 'flaring'. Her MTX won't be working properly yet so if her joints are painful she can be considered to be flaring at the moment. When we are on medication & better controlled flares can also happen, there doesn't seem to be any reason for them they can just happen, break through. As adults we can often relate them to times of stress, or even just doing too much but your daughter has JIA so it's less easy to relate them unless something specific & obvious like an illness. Maybe this will help further jia.org.uk/flaring-in-jia.

Apologies, your English is good & realise now that there may be some words you may not be familiar with. If this happens again do please say.
