RA , can you reverse ankylosis in neck/spine ?

Hi,

I have RA for 10 years. I have ankylosis in the neck/ossification and can't turn my neck or lookup. Has anyone found any remedy that can help improve my condition ? I take Humira every other week ( might be going to every week soon).

Have you had a diagnosis of Ankylosing Spondylitis? I do have problems with my neck but have now been seen by a Neurosurgeon who has diagnosed me - my cervical spine is fusing spontaneously. I don't have a great deal of movement in my neck already,turning to either side is nearly impossible. I am not saying this is what you have but perhaps it would be a good idea to ask your doctor who knows your situation better. We are all different.

Thanks for the feedback. My rheumatalgist seem confident its AS. My xray do not show fusion yet. Mostly oscification of ligaments.

I to have problems with my neck can't turn head .was told it's cervical spondlittis in my neck no sure j7st gabapentin. I as have RA and anklossing spondlittis .sorry to hear ur neck is the same it makes me very self Constance.people always ask me have u hurt ur neck .x amy

I have just posted a reply about hearing loss which also addresses the problem you describe Sunrays. Sorry but if I try to type it all again I will exacerbate my neck and risk a headache! I think if you go to my profile you see all my posts? I hope you find it because I too have a naturally RA fused neck that I am told is more like AS and have found deep tissue massage (only by an accredited practitioner - it could be dangerous otherwise) has loosened me up considerably. It can’t repair the bone damage of course but it can help the tension, pain and locked feeling - for me anyway. Good luck.
