I get a reaction like that from spider bites. If bad the dr gives prednisone.

Hi Dee0302, thank you for taking time to reply! I bet your bites were very painful and swollen! I dont think mine were spider bites, I went on internet and scared myself silly looking at people's bites with all the big pus blisters hanging off them!! Errgghhh! Thankfully my leg looks normal again, never thought I'd be so pleased to see my boney ankle!! I will mention it to my rheumy next time I see him see what he says! For the moment I have some insect repellent, Marmite crisps and tea tree oil! Fingers crossed I dont get anymore!! Xx

Hi, I have always suffered reactions from bites & have to wear repellant as soon as spring arrives until Oct, both here & abroad. As I have auto immune RA, I take care not to get bitten as quite a few times I have been borderline septacaemea. Now I always use original skin so soft oil spray from Avon..using it every day after a shower also moisturizes.. had very few bites since I was recommended to use it & have great confidence in it as a preventative bite & sting spray..hope this helps xx😘

Hi juliachoo Thankyou for reply! Can I ask why the Avon skin so soft works??? And does it come in different scents or just one??? I'm willing to try anything as i dont want a repeat of last week!! You wouldn't think they would like my blood with all the meds floating round!! Xx

Hi best stick to the original formula skin so soft as I wouldn’t like to say that the other ones work as well.. I spray it on every day after a shower both here’s & abroad & touch wood from being eaten alive I now very rarely get bitten... 😘

Sounds very sore and uncomfortable .I can sometimes get bites that get really big and then need antibiotics due to having lupus but never spread to the extent like yours

Hi englishrose67 Thankyou for reply!! Apparently it's been worse this year due to the weather conditions! The wet spring and very warm June is perfect breeding ground for bugs!! Xxx

Worth considering if these are tick bites. Ticks have been bad this year and Lyme disease is becoming more common.

There was a piece on sunday's BBC Countryfile about ticks and Lyme disease. Not easy to diagnose and is often overlooked by all accounts. Ticks are scary looking little critters, and if anything deserves instant death then ticks come very near the top of the of my hit list. I used to find the odd one on my dogs, when after gorging them selves on blood they can take on the appearance of a small baked bean with a tiny dark head and legs. They can be difficult to remove to, so care is needed not to leave the feeding head still attached as it can cause an infection.

Hi wishbone! Yes very nasty critters and nobody safe as pets can also get infected! The only problem with lime disease is most of the symptoms are symptoms we already encounter with R.A. Fibromyalgia etc... so i can image very hard to diagnose.

Hi scottishlad, thank you for reply! I have considered that they could be ticks, I looked on internet at pics of tick bites but they didn't look like mine or react in the same way! So fingers crossed they weren't tick bites!

Hello Narna74,

Oh yes terrible itching and swelling.Have tried eveything possible to stop the itching. Funny thing is that it's worse the third day. Swiping with whisky did help at first, but no more. Have tried vinegar and bicarbonate paste seems that antihistamine is the only thing that helps. Don't really like repellants but I think it's the best solution not to get the bites in the first place. Have understood that people with AI react more aggressively.
