Hi, i have been taking Baracitanib now on and off since January, this last time back on it I'm experiencing lower back pain and generally feel rotten, I've also put on weight 4lb in two weeks around my middle with bloating . Has anyone else felt this way, also cuts or blood tests seem to take longer to stop bleeding?

Thank you.

Alison

Hi Alison, I am on week 2 of Baracitinib taking 4mg once a day. I have just wrote in here too asking people who are on this drug how they are feeling as I am totally exhausted all the time!

The pain and swelling of RA is less to which I'm grateful but I feel rotten too in that I have zero energy. I have also noticed my appetite has increased a lot!

Still to have blood tests so don't know about bleeding but will keep you posted.

Did you and/or are you experiencing lack of energy?

Hi Suzie

Yes for the past 2 wks zapped of energy, feeling rough and over the past 10 days seem to be gaining weight, but i don't have an increased hunger, just feel sick, tired and miserable, which isn't like me at all.

The actual drug seems to work on RA, but at what cost for life in general.

What a horrible diseases this is!

You just can't win!

Oh btw i reduced my drug to 2mg, because it made me dizzy, rheumy wants me to up it to 4mg, but at this rate I'll be coming off of it!

Totally agree with you! Off to see GP now to hear his opinion/advice.

It is an awful disease! An uphill struggle everyday! Like a game of snakes and ladders. Thinking I'm onto something brilliant that's going to make me feel like I did before RA then down the slippery slope with the side effects! Very very frustrating.

Good luck with the GP, mine doesn't have a clue about it, i had to explain to her what it was and how it worked. It becomes very frustrating.

I like your take on it. It is like snakes and ladders you roll a six plod along nicely then bam down the ladder you go.

Hi Alison, Like Suzie, I'm also on my second week of baricitinib, but only take 2mg instead of 4mg. I also take hydroxy and tramadol, which I've been on for the past few years. No noticeable side effects so far and it is helping my RA but nothing like the big improvement that I had off enbrel. Increasing my dosage to 4gr would probably have more of a positive effect but may invite side effects. My main concern there is getting a serious infection, which was the reason I stopped taking enbrel. So I'm not going to push my luck and will keep my fingers XXXX, and stay on 2mg.

Hope you get sorted soon.

So, seen GP. Very limited information on the drug and side effects from him as he said it's new. Moving forward, I requested a complete blood count to which he agreed to. Booked in for that Monday morning. If the results all come back normal then he will contact Rheumy and inform her that I am excessively fatigued and perhaps suggest lowering the dose. We shall see. For now, it's a pyjama and movie weekend which will likely end up with me falling asleep till silly o'clock in the morning with the TV still on! :D

Have a good one
