Spam?

Is anyone else suddenly being inundated with Spam?

Mostly about health issues, weight loss, & now arthritis.

A disturbing coincidence(?) is I've just bought another car which I mentioned in HU,& I've received a message about a car service guarantee.

I'm just deleting them without opening them but it's getting beyond a joke ..I have tried changing my password as advised by my service provider but this morning I still found 12 messages, which will no doubt continue during the day.

Yes I sometimes get one or two chancer type Spam emails, but it suddenly dawned on me the subjects were becoming eerily close to home.

Paranoid? Moi? But just two minutes ago I received an offer of car insurance which I have been getting quotes for.

I do get so fed up with it! It's such a waste if time!!!

I just delete them end of darling.xxx

That is what I am doing at the moment...but it's such a waste of time.

When I delete/unsubscribe no matter what the subject they all come from a USA site which gives an address (?) to write to...but I can't find a phone number or they would hear my pearls of wisdom about what I think about their dubious practices!

Grrrr!

There was a post on here yesterday morning which was obviously spam. I reported it immediately and it was very quickly deleted.

Yes I saw that Rubbish.....well done for reporting it!

The Spam I am concerned about is coming thick & fast this morning to my personal email address & includes my name.

Sounded like someone not used to posting here who thought they had discovered a miracle !

If only!

It was one of those posts that had a miracle cure for absolutely everything. As you say if only!

I get spells of it, and assume that someone I contacted has been hacked. So if you were getting car and looking at insurance then perhaps one of these companies has either been hacked - or sold their mailing list.

Hugely irritating as with clumsy fingers I've been know to delete an important email along with the rubbish.

AgedCrone profile image
AgedCrone in reply tohelixhelix

I did that! Had to eat humble pie & ask various contacts to send duplicates!

I hate having to do that as if someone has to ask me for a duplicate I presume they are an idiot!

Have a good weekend....from Idiot AC!

I've lost track of the number of times I've had to go to the recycle bin and reinstate an email to the in box. Impatient? Moi?

Thanks for replying.....yes I've had long conversations with my ISP & gone through everything......but still they come.

I guess they will stop eventually....but patience is not top of my list of virtues!

Gosh that’s a bit unnerving...!? I get loads of spam but it mainly goes in my spam folder. Anything I get that’s unsavoury in my main email I just delete or move to spam as my daughter told me it “learns” that it’s spam then eventually sends it there....🤔😉.

I know if you click on just about anything on the web the algorithms (??) pick it up and then send you anything and everything linked to what you have been searching. Spooky stuff ! Just ignore ! TT x

I have just read an article in The Telegraph about the new Data Regulations which may be connected...I'll try to post it,,but at the moment my system won't play ball!

Since GDPR day, I’ve started getting loads of spam emails, mainly offering me credit cards - I just immediately delete without opening and hope they will eventually stop, but they’re a real pain in the inbox! 😡

I'm sorry you are being bombarded with Rubbish...but at least it proves I'm not paranoids!

Must get into the habit of deleting everything I don't need as soon as I receive it..I have been having marathon deleting sessions!!!

If you visit a website, a crawler bot will often pick up your ip address and your email can then be accessed from that.

GDPR won't stop these emails as they could either be covered by legitimate interest and/or come routed via Asia/outside UK.😊

You can set up a separate folder within your emails to redirect them to so that they don't clutter up your inbox.

To be honest if everyone one is in the same boat I'm not that worried......but it's a bloomin' nuisance!

I always knew email was not secure, but as I only shop or gossip on line, I hope whoever reads my scribbles has a laugh......

I do worry about children though - as these days they maybe more technically savvy, but they can't differentiate the nasties from just Rubbish.

Oh you most certainly aren’t the only one that gets inundated with spam! It’s been a pain since email was a thing, but some of the tactics used have developed over the years.

Spam filters are one option but if they rely on you blocking the sending address they are a bit hit and miss because they don’t send them from the same address all the time. Others that try to recognise certain features of spam and block them that way tend to block legit emails as well, so there is no perfect solution.

The delete key is your friend.

Everyone gets "spam"- When you buy a product, you details sometimes gets sold. Just mark as span you should have that option and forget about it. Our privacy is being invaded more and more, not sure where you live but I am from the UK and say I look on the Amazon Website at Laptops for example - may pages I visit will have banner adds of what I have been looking at on Amazon..

Yes a few spams a week is normal but this last week it's been 12- 20 a DAY,

It must be companies taking advantage ....having hacked a lot of the chancers sending the wretched emails.

As you say...search for a Teapot on Amazon....then every teapot maker in the world gets in on the action!
