Hi all. I overdid it walking wise on a weekend away and by the time I got home my knees were very swollen and walking was difficult .Over the past three weeks I've tried everything, days of rest interspersed with working. The rheumatology emergency line have given me an emergency appointment for me to have my knees injected but it's 4 days away still. My symptoms are mainly do do with my painful legs which keep me awake at night and feeling yuck because of them, plus itchy dry eyes . Having failed to tolerate methotrexate I am now on sulphasalazide and hydro chloroquine plus 2 naproxen a a day plus ice on knees when possible. Any tips? Anyone experience the total leg muscle pain ( which I assume is due to lack of knee mobility)) and shooting pains down and up my legs. It's just going on and on whTever I do. Agh!!!! knees less swollen than they were but still v painfull. Plus I've been gluten free for 3 months to aim to reduce inflammation. Anyone else experiencing knee flare ups( previously it's my feet and wrists wchich were the problem) . Have had systemic injection ( all over) which helped last yeAr but rheum you seemed to say that now I can only try local injections into knees . Is there a reason why?

So did I!.. and it's payback time this morning. As luck would have it I have a GP appointment this morning. I usually catch the bus and walk a short distance to the surgery but it's no can do this morning. Thankfully a friend, who's knees are also shot, is taking me in his car, would've been a taxi otherwise.

I'm usually pretty good judging how far I can walk. Would have been ok this time if my gammy fingers could have put enough pressure on the bus stopping button when I was out yesterday. Had to get off at the next stop, which meant a longer walk home. The bus driver could have stopped as I shouted to him in time, but he chose not to. The trials and tribulations of an arthritic I guess, but that didn't stop me calling him a ba***rd! :-)

Hope your knees ease up soon.

Thanks😄Sounds awful but it's made me smile! I've just struggled to work and feeling more positive. Have dosed up , had a hot shower and frozen peas on the knees . What a life !
