Hi twomack, best ask Rheumatology nurse or doc. Activated charcoal (detox naturally) interferes with prescribed meds absorption but you don’t say what detox you mean. There’s a fair amount to choose from. :-)

Hello twomack, we are all lay people on this forum and not qualified to give answers to medical questions. Please ask a medical professional. we are all individuals, so even if someone had taken the same route as you, the outcome may well have been completely different. I hope you get a satisfactory answer. If you don't, please try the NRAS helpdesk, they will do everything possible to help you. All the best.

Hi Twomack

It might be worth reading up on what we mean when we say detox. We have kidneys and a liver (and various other processes) that do an excellent job of removing things from our bodies that aren’t supposed to be there.

What kind of a pill are you planning to take that will do that job better? What toxins are you trying to remove? How will the pill achieve that?

When you ask your doctor about whether it’s safe to take this pill you could ask them if there is actually any point, or whether you’d be better off saving your money and drinking more water. 😉

A quick google brought up one product that claims to be a 7 day detox. It contains 30 odd ingredients including quite a high dose of caffeine. That’s 30 different substances that could potentially interact in some way with whatever medications you are taking. I’m not a doctor, but I’d be amazed if yours recommended taking that.

You would be better off IMHO drinking lots of water (which is always good anyway), avoiding processed foods and foods containing things like trans-fats and added sugars, eating more fruit, veg, fibre, grains, etc, reducing / stopping alcohol, stopping smoking (if you do of course) and increasing your physical activity.

In fact if you do the above for a few weeks I guarantee you will feel better, even if it is just the thought of the money you saved not buying those detox pills...

🙏🏻

was told recently that a seaweed bath , or epsom salts or even a foot bath of epsom salts will do the detox - but no booze after.for 24hrs
