I read about it a few weeks ago and decided I'd give it a go as I've got nothing to lose! I was having quite a few flare ups at the beginning of the year (I'm on HCQ and SSZ) and I'm due at Rheumatology in 3 weeks time with a view to adding/changing my meds. Anyway, in the meantime, in an attempt to avoid any more pills, I'm taking 1/2 tsp of baking soda with 1tbs raw organic apple cider vinegar in 8oz of water before breakfast and before my evening meal. The flares seem to be less frequent and less painful.... Might be my wishful thinking or the fact that summer has finally arrived, but I am feeling better and certainly don't feel the need for any additional meds - at the moment! I'll keep you posted!

i also read that it can raise your BP (of course everything can raise that these days). Can i just do the baking soda with the water, or is the vinegar necessary too ?

Good for you! Anything is worth trying so we don't have to take strong meds with strong side effects. I take 1 tablespoon of the same cider vinegar as you with a tablespoon of honey , plus the water of course. I think it helps. It's supposed to break down any acid in the joints.

You can just do the baking soda. Luckily my BP is on the low side of normal, but it's something I can keep an eye on.

i think this is also a homemade trick to unclog a slow toilet. A lot more, like a gallon of water and a bunch of baking soda and vinegar. Once you pour the baking soda and vinegar into the bowl it explodes with a giant fizz.

Thanks I will try that on my toilet as my drains are old let and iron

Definitely worth a try. It works very well for gout and heartburn, but I’ve never tried it long term for RA.

I use it to keep my system alkaline when I eat the wrong things for a couple of days in a row. It help control some of the pain..

I recently had emergency surgery for burst stomach ulcer and my kidneys only functioned at 2 percent at this time. The kidney specialist put me on 2 x 500mg capsules of baking soda twice a day for 2 weeks and kidney function returneed to normal. Was it the baking soda or because I had recovered. Not sure but still take 500mg of baking soda everyday. So who knows?
