Face pimples and Humira?

Just a question to see if anyone else on Humira ever broke out in pimples on the face? My daughter is only on her second injection of Humira, and the other day she showed me 2 big pimples on her face. She has beautiful skin usually. It could be make-up or maybe Humira? She is 42 yrs old.

I'm not on Humira, but a biosimilar Benepali, and I get loads of spots since I started it! Gutted, as I escaped my teenage years relatively spot free. Didn't expect to go through it in my 40's! In my mind, a small price to pay for the benefit I get from the medication however.

Anything you do to manage them? Or is it the inevitable?

No, don't do anything to manage them. It's not horrendous, only 1 or 2 every couple of weeks, I can put up with that.

This is very interesting as I am on Benepali ( about 20 weeks now) and I developed really red, rough quite sore spots after about 4 weeks into starting the Benepali. I have never been a spotty person. I have them on my face, top of back and top of chest. They have just started to ease after around 18weeks into Benepali. My friend who is also on Benepali has the same issue too! Would be very interested if it is a side effect. I will tell my Rheumatologist next time. Best of luck!

Interesting, since I’ve read up some on some Crohn’s disease boards that some on Humira for Crohns have what they call “face acne”. They recommend a dermatologist for treatment. TY!

I was on Humira for 14 months and it didn’t cause me to develop spots, as far as I can remember. I’m now on Benepali, the biosimilar for Enbrel which I was on for 18 Mo the and haven’t developed spots with either of these two.

TY for your reply! I’ve had Rituxan infusions, but for cancer. It worked well for me and the only reaction I had was that my throat started to close up at first, but they intervened quickly and gave me steroids and benedryl which pulled me out of the reaction. I had to have the steroids and benedryl protocol for the rest of my infusions (4 of them). But the Rituxan put me into remission. I’m happy to see they are using it for many conditions now. It helps the immune system to fight for itself. Best of luck to you!

Keep us posted! I bet you feel better soon! I had PMR too while I was treating with the Rituxan. The Rituxan helped that too! I’m almost finished tritating down with the prednisone and I just started on 1 mg today and after this month, I will be done. My PMR was actually a differential diagnoses to my cancer. Once the cancer went into remission, so did the PMR. I’m happy to see they are using Rituxan for so many different conditions now. Happy Easter to you too! Keep on swimming!

TY for the reminder about apple cider vinegar for those pimples!

Hello, I've been taking humira for atleast 6 years. I get pimples that take along time to go away. I use clearisil when possible. I may see a dermatologist for an antibiotics cream because I have 2 depressions where the pimples were. The humira lowers your resistance to fight infection causing the pimples. I have Ulcerative Colitis with joint pain and the injection have eliminated the disease. I take 2 injections per month.

I was so happy to see it wasn’t just me. I am 54 and started Humira in November. Since starting I have more pimples than I ever had in my teenage years and they don’t heal. I’m so upset and since I now know it’s medication induced I will be discussing with my doc.

I’ve just started humira and my face broke out in little pimples that looked like a bunch of white heads under the skin. Looks like my face is welped with little bumps.
