Flu has given me 2 remissions of approx 3 years for each. Has anybody else had this experience ? The 1st remission came 2 years after my first flare up. Within an hour of starting with flu the swellings in both my ankles " drained" away. It was won derful.
Had flu helped your RA?: Flu has given me 2 remissions... - NRAS
Had flu helped your RA?
Wow ! That's so interesting.I hope you are still in remission. I could feel my inflammation draining away for a few days when I was on flucoxacillin ( sorry probably not correct spelling ) but had to stop this as I developed strange skin reactions to it. It felt like a miracle. I am guessing you did not have antibiotics while you had the flu ?
I didn't take any anti biotics.
Unfortunately no The flu that surfaced on New Years day this year, led to the usual coughs that go right through you, I gradually got worse an d worse.....until I had to ring 111as my body added in diarrhoea and vomiting. Doctor came out, ,antibiotics, anti emetics
and loperamide joined my cornuccoppia of RD meds.
I can swear that my RD definitely did not improve, in fact I am still in the middle of a flare that refuses to improve.
So much for my N.Y. resolution that2018 was going to be the year things would start to improve
That is interesting as my whole RD experience started with awful flu that I couldnot shake, be marvellous if the whole thing went into reverse 😄 hope yr remission lasts
Flu triggered my JIA in the first place ☹️
Yes, had flu December 2016, all signs of RA disappeared, ( I was down for Humira in Jan 2017) had no symptoms until January this year, on steroids for a month, then RA factor tests, felt lucky to have my “year off”
Amazing. I had flu last month for first time, the pain in my joints completely disappeared. I stopped taking the methotrexate and benepali as was so I’ll. however the joint pain came back as soon as I recovered and worse probably because i stopped medication for two weeks.
Looks like your RA is a tad worse than mine. I cant comment on the flu as I have not had it for about 10 years, but I find many cold viruses tend to fire my RA up in my hands and wrists. I do however get bouts of RA which give flu-like symptoms ie thumping head, terrible night sweats and so on.
