Have tried sulfazalazine two times and failed on it. They are now trying me again on a slow build up.
I took first one 3 hours ago and now have stomach cramps and need the loo.
Can’t decide if this really is a side effect or just coincidence

My first 2 months on Sulpha were spent very close to the toilet....I'm fine with it now, but at the start..... eweuogh!! I think if it's going to affect you then it can be quite quick.
Yes. Quite quickly. Hope it wears of soon.
Ask the dr to give you enteric coated sulphasalazine- this has made a big difference for me. Good luck with it and increase your dose when you feel you can. Hugs. Carol xx
With me it comes up the way it went down! I have been on it 16 months now and in that time it has just about killed my appetite and taken away all enjoyment of food. The first three months it made me nauseous and sick several days a week, then it settled. But lately, I have been struggling to eat and at times have taken it on an empty stomach. Big mistake. I'm looking forward to getting off it at my next rheumatology appointment.
