Hiya Elainr, welcome. If you're meaning is it normal for the agent, in your case Capita, to send the report of your assessment to the DWP then yes. The agents don't decide your award the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP) do. If you mean is it normal to take so long then yes it can, it depends on how busy they are, if they've had an influx of applicants, plus we've had the Christmas holidays. The total time from application to decision is given as 12 weeks but it rarely is. The average time for the decision maker to decide if you're awarded PIP is usually 3 to 4 weeks from receipt of the report, although I received mine within a fortnight but it was 7 months from application to assessment so there's no saying exactly when you'll receive notification I'm afraid but it can't be too much longer now. You could keep badgering the DWP, ring them weekly, that may help.

I don't think having been just a day out of surgery will go against you. The intention is how your condition affects you longer term generally not on the day. It was a bit mean of them not to reappoint your assessment though I must say, I believe you're usually allowed one cancellation so quite why they wouldn't, especially having only just having had surgery.

Hope this helps?

Hey Captia sent the report to department 04/12/17 but after phone call today I’ve been told that case manager has sent it back to captia, I’m worried it’s because I wasn’t able to do the standard exercises

You're welcome. It's anyone's guess why the Case Manager (DWP) has returned your report to Capita but mine is there was a discrepancy. As I said keep ringing them weekly, they may push it through once the CM is in receipt of it again. I wouldn't think it's related to the physical as you're within your rights to refuse to not do any at all.

That sounds weird Elaine, why would they send it to capita as you applied for it, it's yours surely and personal. I did pip face to face, not really a medical?, beginning of November like you and got it mid December.

Captia done my face to face assessment in November they sent report to dwp now the dwp have sent it back for more information, would it be because I was in so much pain and unsteady during assessment

Oh i see, sorry, surely the worse you were would count in your favour i would think. Really don't know then, maybe you're going to get a higher rate 😄 good luck, stressful situation.

I think I’m just really nervous about it all, it’s the first time I’ve ever applied. Then the fact I couldn’t do the exercises or anything with the pain I thought I’d be called back for another assessment

No, i couldn't do a couple either Elaine, don't worry. It's a horrible situation to be put in. I got letter day after they paid in, backdated, really didnot think i had got it at all, a nice suprise for change! Hope same for you x
