Hi guys going for a scan tomorrow. I saw rheummy weeks ago who said stop anti inflammatories and steroids when I got word of scan so I stopped them on Monday...I'm really struggling with pain! Can I top up on cocodomol or gabapentin to ease things or will they affect the scan? Any thoughts appreciated. Cheers M x

My thoughts from my experience are that anything that could reduce actual inflammation should be stopped (like steroids and anti-inflammatory stuff) but drugs that just help minimise pain won't actually make any difference to the scan. You still have the inflammation but just can't feel it. Not sure about aspirin tho' as that might have a mild anti-inflammatory effect?

They are not anti inflammatories so should be fine

Well Dr doing the scan said joints were pretty good. I think I'm pleased about that but it'll probably mean no biologicals but at least for now, the joints are holding up ok. M x
