Re started methotrexate last week following chest infection. To be fair, I should’ve restarted a few weeks ago but with one thing and another, I postponed it- possibly, stupidly.
My question is, is it normal to have crushing heart burn with methotrexate? I don’t remember having it before but it’s the only thing that’s changed? Absolutely killing me !!!

My MTX journey started 7 months ago. I don’t have any heart burn pain but occasionally the night after my MTX intake, the circus seems to come to town (ie. my stomach(?). Speak to your rheumy about it 🌸
Sorry your suffering Marie, see if you can have injection instead of tablets I understand they have less side effects. I had to stop tabs they didn't suit at all ,my new Rhuemy has suggested that if needed I start inj along with the biologics. At least you've got all the washing and ironing done after your hols.
Thanks mike. I’ve already booked and paid for a return to Budapest in August. Although we were constantly doing things whilst there, we covered what felt like just a tiny bit of the city!
I’ll have a word with go when I go to have bloods taken this week.
Hiya Marie. It's a common symptom though odd if you didn't have it before I agree. The usual simple things like sitting upright, eating bland food, omeprazole etc I guess you're aware of, unless prior to your dose you ate something that didn't agree? If you have the same next week maybe take measures to avoid or help ease it, other than that definitely question moving on to injections. Every cloud & all that but I'm sure you'd rather still have that pile of ironing!
Hi. What dosage of ompreazole are you taking is it sufficient? I was recently on high doses of 3 very strong antibiotics. Acid reflux got very bad reaching my sinuses which was very painful. Doctors increased dosage of ompreazole to 80mg, 40mg in morning and evening which worked.
