Hi, After 10+ years of pain and suffering tests and Scans, it has finally been decided that I have fibromyalgia. As such I have come of the Methotrexate. Can anyone advise me on how best to do this? Just go cold turkey, drop 2.5mg weekly or 5mg weekly ? I am currently on 20mg having come down from 25mg some time ago.

Did your doctors not advise you? And presumably your prescription has been amended so you won't have access to it anyway?

As far as I know there's no problem with just stopping MTX, as no withdrawal issues , but always check with your own doctors.

I have no idea about dropping MTX, but I also have fibromyalgia! What meds were you put on for it?

I have not been put on any. I am on Prednisone 10mg and am likely to stay on that as my adrenal glands have proven to be insufficient. I have been referred to the Pain clinic for them to look at what I am on and reallocate. I will let you know if they change mine.

I was put on Cymbalta first, then Lyrica, Savella, and gabapentin. I had reaction to all of them, so after we get my inflammation under control I am going to try wellbutrin. I want to see how much of my pain is the RD before I add meds for the fibromyalgia.

Hope you find compassion at the pain clinic, some of them treat fibromyalgia patients like they are lying junkies.

I am so sorry they have that diagnosis because they are lazy and don't know what to do. I have fought that off twice as a diagnosis as I do not have any of the symptoms apart from pain. I hope you can find someone who will listen to you and not fob you off with that. all the best and sorry I only ever took mtx for a short period as it caused me to want to kill people. Not quite the reaction I was after.

Thanks, I think the new diagnosis of Vascular Dementia will take its toll before they get to the bottom of this.

Oh I am sorry to hear that. I hope you will get proper pain relief though and not be left to just cope like I was for a year. All the best.
