Have you checked the brand of your Hydroxychloroquine? Mine was charged without me knowing, I was ill for ages, only realised that my brand had been changed some time after. I'm now on the Zentiva brand and fine again. Not saying it is that but worth a look. Hope you feel better soon.
Hi I’ve been on Mxt 20mg since January 2016. I suffer with nausea for 1-2 days every week.
Changed from tablets to injections and nausea is worse. I hate taking it every week.
Have tried hydroxychloroquin sulphazalazine and leflunomide. These are now stopped due to their side effects.
I’m waiting to start benepali and hopefully stop mxt if possible.
Wishing you well
I started MTX injections on 1st August and within hours I became nauseated wth headache and feeling generally very unwell. This has continued despite stopping MTX injections after the 6th week. I am only now starting to feel better, 3 months down the line. Clemmie
Morning! Ive always experienced sickness with methotrexate so my rheumatologist suggested I take folic acid. Your can’t take on the same day as methotrexate but at least 24hours before or after. Since my methotrexate was increased I also increased the folic acid I now take it 3x a week and it really works. Hope this is helpful good luck. X
Hi Tramadol makes me feel really sick .
Yep, same here, they switched me to injections to counteract week long nausea, lowered dose and added hydroxyc to make up dose. Now i feel sick for 2 days instead but still a big chunk of yr life eh?
Hi yes it is still a big part of week to feel ill . I'm going give it a few more weeks and ring them tell them I want a total change of meds if things dont improve xx
Difficult isn't it? I've only been diagnosed 3 months and worry about other drugs having even worse side effects so tend to go along with everything suggested at moment. I think sometimes they're so focussed on getting joint pain and damage controlled they forget effects of meds on patients. Sometimes i just feel I've added a load of other symptoms into mix . Hands fingers wrists ache constantlystill though nowhere near as painful and useless as before drugs. Anyway, good luck hope you find someting better for you and keep us posted
I take folic acid 6 days a week.
The day I do not take it because I need to take my MTX is the day I have the nausea.
The MTX jab has helped me big time though with gut ache and needing to go to the loo up to 4 times a day. So I am willing to tolerate the nausea one day a week.
I read some time ago that the feeling of nausea comes from a trigger in the brain. So I find if I distract myself mentally on that day that I can tolerate the nausea more easily.
I took mtx inj for 2 years with the added meds you're on but was changed to Benepali as the mtx and hydrochloroquine were causing too many problems. Hope you get sorted soon
Methotrexate is a form of chemotherapy which accounts for the sickness
