Shingles vaccination

My husband was offered a shingles vaccination as he is now 70. The nurse said he may have a rash after a few days as a side effect from the live vaccine. If that happens does that put me at risk of getting shingles.

My husband had the shingles vaccine recently . I am on mtx and enbrel but I was fine, no problems. We asked our GP beforehand if he was ok to have it while I am on these drugs and she said it wouldn't be a problem and it wasn't. Hope that helps.

The rash of shingles may contain some chicken pox virus for a few days. As long as it is covered you would not catch chickenpox. You have to have had chickenpox already to have shingles. The virus hides away and travels down a nerve root to give you the rash.
