I have been diagnosed with Progressive rheumatoid arthritis for 6 years and I have not been to the dentist only but once when I first got the infusion and my gums got really sore in my mouth I now want to go to the dentist in the next 2 weeks cuz I'm due for my infusion of rituxin on the 1st of September I'm wondering if that's a good idea because I'm told that you can bleed alot when you get your teeth cleaned and so on does anybody know or have the same problem?

Hi Tabbie, I've postponed my dental check up and non urgent crown as I had Rituximab part 2 last week. Better not to give yourself any more risk of infection whilst the immunity is so low. I asked my rheumy nurse about how long to wait and she said ideally mid way between your last and next course. If you've an emergency you can't help but go of course, but if you are only having routine treatment and check up I wouldn't do so soon after Rituximab.

Just tell the dentist your gums don't bleed when the teeth are cleaned unless your dentist is rough and in that case change. Dental hygiene is really important with a suppressed immune system as abscesses can occur and gum disease when means teeth becoming loose and needing to be extracted. Plase go and talk to your dentist with a list of your medications too.

Why don't you have regular check ups at he dentist? I have always gone at least once a year for check ups. My dentist knows I am on RTX....I gave him the information leaflet I was given before my first infusion. & he treats me accordingly.

I was on rituxin infusions every 6 months for 3 years,PLS can you tell me, if you have had mental issues of anger, instability uncontrollable emotions with the rituxin? Any new information in regards 2 mental issues would be I would be welcomed & I would be very grateful. Due to the fact that I have had so many issues. I went off of the rituxin and have been trying to manage the pain with different remedies as well.

I can't say I have noticed any mood swings on Rituximab. Only Prednisilone makes me a bit ranty.
