Why does my pinky finger dip joint pop when moved?

I'm 15, and around a year ago I had this incident where my right arm, up to my elbow, and my ring and pinky finger were numb for pretty much the entire summer holidays. My mum said it was possibly because I spent the entire night on the computer with my elbow resting on the table - which I know can cause numbness. I do suffer from a slight case of carpal tunnel syndrome, like most people in my family, and people say that maybe the numbness had something to do with that but I'm not sure.

Anyway, ever since that day, my pinky finger on my right hand hasn't felt right. Like when I move my ring finger, which should make my little finger bend along with it, it doesn't and stays in a straight position. But that's only up to my dip joint. The tip of my finger moves, but the rest does not.

I have to actually make my finger move because if I don't, it won't bend. It hurts slightly, and if I bend it too much it sends a numbing pain down my hand. Also when I bend it, it makes an audible pop noise. My dip joint also feels different to the rest of my knuckles. It feels as though I am missing a chunk, or that it has moved higher and more to the right. My finger itself doesn't look any different, though.

I really hope someone can help. I've looked on every site that isn't dodgy, and I can't find anything.

Go to your doctors and ask them to find out what is wrong. Is there any ra in your family darling if so ask for a blood test to check.xxxxx

It could be that your ulnar nerve is trapped in your elbow. You'll need to see your GP in the first instance x

You really need to see your GP. It sounds like a trapped nerve. My Dad has been having similar problems with his hand and can't feel his fingers. The consultant is deciding if he needs an operation or physio. Stop looking at Dr Google and see your GP 😊

Sounds like trigger finger maybe. I have 4 at the moment and its very uncomfortable. I had steroid injections into my tendons which can help. Its usual for people with RA or other such hand or wrist problems. It can be hard to treat. It can just disappear. See your doc to get some help.
