Hi Gracebell.

I haven't had any lung infections or upper back pain.

I can only think how poorly you feel so horrid!! It's bad enough with having RA without anything else!!

I hope the infection clears up and back pain eases !!

Stay strong huni!! Thinking of you !!

Sending you {hugs} xx

I've had pleurisy for the past few weeks due to bronchitis and sinusitis. Prednisone was raised and lowered and caused water retention which caused the pleurisy (water around) my left lung. I am finally starting to feel better with the meds they gave me. I had to get checked for pulmonary embolism (negative), had an EKG (normal), and of course the chest xray showed the pleurisy. I've since seen a cardiologist (still all good). I also have an appointment with a pulmonologist (Just to make sure there's no underlining problems). I'm on a diuretic, inhaler (sometimes two), antibiotics, Morin, and was taking an occasional Percocet for the intense severe pain. I don't know if this is what you were questioning, but if you have not seen anyone yet, please greet it checked out.

I'm 41-YO diagnosed with RA three years ago (had it for much longer). Always on prednisone and Plaquinel for the RA. NEVER had Asthma.

I hope you feel better soon. The pain is horrible! I hope you find relief soon. Let me know if you have any other questions.

See your GP if you suspect you have a lung infection! If you're prescribed methotrexate the sooner the better as it's known it can cause lung complications. Many years before RD I had pain as you describe a long while, months & I put up with it stupidly, I didn't have asthma though. My GP at the time sent me immediately to hospital where I stayed for a couple of weeks as my lung had collapsed. They treated it conservatively initially as I was being married a couple of weeks later it but despite not flying on honeymoon it collapsed again a week later so they operated. Not had it happen again though I do have less function still.

Even if it's not as severe as a pneumothorax if you have asthma & this is a new pain you should have it checked out really.

You should go to see Doc to be sure all is ok. I had similar went to Doc sent for MRI scan found I had a Pulmonary Fibrosis not sure wether it was from the result of my RA or I would have had it anyway but had to come off Methotrexate because it agrivates the condition now on Hydroxychloroquine & Neurontin which works for me. Just get it checked out for piece of mind & know for sure.

Go to the GP asap as only a doctor can answer this.

I know how you feeling because I just finally feel better after three rounds of antibiotics and prednisone. Make an appointment with Dr or go to ER for relief, Sounds like you have bronchitis or pheaunonia. People with the autoimmune disease have low immune systems. Hope you get relief soon.

If you are taking methotrexate you need to consult your GP or nurse ASAP as it can cause lung problems as I found out late last year. It wasn't until I was admitted to hospital with Pneumonia that they realised it was the meds affecting my lungs.
