I think my knuckle bone is snapped

A girl in my class grabbed my arm and pressed on my knuckle bone really hard and I think one of it is snapped as when I move it upwards only the fingers bone moves up I'm scared

Hi KitKatKitt,

I assume you are still at school? If so, can you show your mum/ dad/ carers or whoever you live with? It would be fairly unlikely that you've 'snapped' a knuckle bone from someone leaning on it I would think. But bruised and sore ligaments etc can be v painful and you need to show/ tell someone.

Have you got RA or PSA?

The knuckles are the hardest bones in the hand, usually only broken if hit by a hard object like a wall so to reassure you I think it's unlikely a girl pressing hard on it would break it. Also if you can move that finger in any direction it won't be broken. Have you shown it to either of your parents? If they think you need to they can take you to a walk-in centre, it being the weekend now, unless your GP Surgery is open tomorrow morning. Failing that see your GP on Monday. See what your Parent thinks is necessary. Do you have Rheumatoid or another form of arthritis? If so then it may be wise to get your hand checked over anyway, our bones can be more brittle especially if you've needed to take steroids for any length of time.

It will probably be sore so you could try a cold compress on it. Does your Mum have a bag of unopened peas in the freezer? If so wrap the bag in a tea towel & either put it on top of your hand or if that hurts too much lay your hand on top if it. It should take down any swelling you have.
