Hi everyone! I was diagnosed with ra in 2013.I need to have my knee replaced as it is severely damaged from the ra! Now my knee has started to grind, pop, and sometimes feels wobbly and unstable! The pain is pretty bad some of the time but not all of the time! Is anyone dealing with this?

Ra and knee damage
I have no special suggestions re. the pain aspect . See your rheumatologist about that. But for weak/unstable leg problems, knee or ankle, the key is to develop your hip strength. It is your hip muscles that control your leg position and therefore your stability. I have this on good authority from a world-recognized sports-injury specialist,aProfessor from Sweden, who told me this when he worked in the UK: Prof. Crister Rolf. He wrote the book on this sort of thing. I can see the logic: your leg's position and movement is all controlled from your hip. Thigh-strengthening exercises have serious potential to aggravate knee-problems Hip flexions can be done without pressurizing your knees.
I hope this helps?
I have 2 bad knees and ankles due to ostio arthritus the lock and pop and give way nowe my ankle are as well ..I developed dyspagia in March still can't swollow properly and my neck hurts I'm fed up with pain I'm trying to tie take strong pain things inclusing morphine as my tummy has suffered so much x. in see Dr about right knee ee this wk x hope u get sorted x
Hi Jarme, I'm going through the same. I was diagnosed in 2009 and am in remission. My left knee has been sending signals since 2010. Now it's all bone on bone action and I have to resort to pain killers more often than I like. Seeing a knee man tomorrow. I've been doing leg strengthening exercises for years and am sure that this has helped to delay the severe symptoms. So if you don't already do them, please start now. All the best and keep in touch.
Thank you for all of the replies! Are there certain exercises that will help strengthen my leg?
There are many available. Have a look on arthritisresearchuk.org and search for exercise. Ask you GP or specialist to refer you to a physio to get specific strengthening exercises. Have a look on YOUTUBE. All the best.
Not an answer to your question but I was diagnosed as OA but people believe I have RA. My provider believes I have RA but isn't in a position to be able to diagnosed that. Did you go to one of the major hospital/clinics or a smaller clinic. Mine was from a major but the provider that seen me just transferred from gyno. So wondering if that i should see another provider. Thank you.
If you suspect you have RA, suggest to see a rheumatologist as early treatment is the key to put you into remission and to slow down the progression of RA.
I've tried to go back to the rheumatologist but thang said only if I was having problems. I told them I was and they looked at my past notes and claim it looks like it is OA. I'm thinking trying another place. I just felt like because she transferred from gyno I that I wasnt seeing a true rheumatologist. I guess I don't know why I didn't get a true rheumatologist. I was in the office for almost five hours. I waited about 2 1/2 hours in room while she went and discussed her findings with the rheumatologist.
