Interesting reading about vagus nerve stimulation
If you put vagus nerve in the search box above left you'all find previous posts on it from a while back....they keep tantalising us with promises of it as a potential treatment, but I think it will be a while before it's on the usual menu of NHS rheumatologists.
I remember this was discussed a good while ago, it's actually under Related Posts to the right of the page & here healthunlocked.com/nras/pos...
NRAS produced a research update, unsure when it was released as it's not dated, outlining how it works & info about a trial at the University of Amsterdam nras.org.uk/nerve-stimulati...
I can't find any trials for VNS in RD here either recruiting or ongoing. There is evidence of it's use in depression & also in epilepsy though healthtalk.org/peoples-expe...
Thank you nomoreheels for update😊
For those who interested here facts about the vagus nerv, it's function and how you can stimulate it without any implants.
I was hoping to be able to trial non-invasive VNS (gammacore) for my GI condition as my gastro consultant has a special interest in this area and he said I'd be a good candidate due to my RA. However, he's just left his post so I'm left in limbo. 😞
Sorry for that☹️
Find out where he's gone Crasdoll and get in touch if you can because there may still be a chance.
Several of our students have the VN stimulator fitted (have done for several years) and they've help greatly with controlling their epilepsy.
All the best
