Hydroxchlorquine, and Naproxen.

I am on Hydroxy 200 mg twice a day. And just recently got my Naproxen filled. That is when I read the script on the Naproxen bottle. My Rheumy has it wrote out for me to take 2 of them per day along with the Hydroxy. Does that sound right to anyone here. I am just used to taking the Naproxen when I am hurting real bad. Not really sure what to do.

That could be right, taking an NSAID regularly is more effective for RD inflammation. Anything up to 1g per day (500mg twice a day) is normal for naproxen. I'd double check with the Pharmacist where you have your scripts filled.

I used to take naproxen with food, so one with breakfast & the other with my evening meal. Has your Rheumy prescribed a PPI as well (stomach protector, omeprazole or similar)? If not ask your GP to prescribe one.

He didn't prescribe any PPI, as the list of meds that I currently take one of them is, Omeprazole, so no need to add to that. I will call pharmacy later today to see if the Naproxen is correct as Rheumy's office is closed on Fridays. Thanks for the advice.

I should have added unless you have it on repeat, good you're already taking it though!

I would check with your rheumy nurse if you can as it's very individual. When I was first prescribed anti-inflammatories I needed to take them all the time. However, once the disease was better controlled I was able to reduce my use of them.

Some people have no option but to take them permanently. But because they increase your risks it's generally advised that you minimise your use of them if possible.

I now only need them occasionally. I was recommended to take them for a 5 day period when things are bad, but not just to take them for a day here and there as that's not very effective.
