Hi, I have been on MXT for 2 years and added sulphasalazine 6 weeks ago, ( full dose two weeks). I now have bruises all over my arms and legs but don't know how they happened. Could this be the meds? Do I need to get hold of my dr? Please help!

Hi and sorry to hear that bruises have appeared ! I am recently diagnoses with RA and a few other problems that come with the RA so I can understand your worry ! I take sulfasalazine and have done since October and have found them amazing but I haven't noticed any bruising on my arms and legs but if i did i would pop to see the doctor for a peace of mind ! Good luck and takecare
Hi Zip, such a nuisance being bruised all the time ,I tell people my wife beats me.( joking of course). I came of mtx about 2yrs ago but I'm still bruising easily, also if I get a small cut or uscratch I bleed a lot. I know my platelet count is low so I think it's just another side effect of this horribleR.A.the condition that just keeps on giving. Definately mention it to your Doc.
Regards Mike
Hi- just to offer you my advice: bruising can also happen if your red blood count is low. I'd have a blood test and see your gp asap. Meanwhile, eat lots of iron saturated foods; if nothing else, you'll be like Popeye! 💪
I also noticed bruising without even being aware of doing anything. Also the bruising would take absolutely forever to fade. It started exactly on the day I was given a depomedrone steroid injection! I was given my DAS score test that day and thought it was due to my Rheumatologist applying a bit to much pressure when testing joints. Since then I have been ( on and off) Prednisolone. Interestingly, recently the bruising no longer appears an issue.... I stopped the Prednisolone this May. I think in my case it is the steroids. My inflammation is currently the calmest it has ever been too so could the bruising accompany the inflammation? This is my experience. Best of luck.
Thank you all, i will mention it to the dr but am now not too worried as you all seem to share the experience!
