Does anyone know if you bruise more easily when on Warfarin?

Yes, my Husband is on Warfarin and he bruises more easily now than before he started to take them. He only has to have a tiny cut and he bleeds a lot as well.

The Consultant told him that they are the side effects of Warfarin. .

Seems as if all medications have some kind of side effects.

I know, you have to be so careful when you are taking Warfarin.

Not only bruising but also bleeding easier than you would otherwise just so you're aware. Both are common side effects but the help warfarin gives is important if you have a blood clotting problem or it's needed for a heart issue. I'm afraid it's one of those things, not helpful I know but you'll have been prescribed it for good reason. Best to have a read of the patient information leaflet in the box.

Yes, you certainly do Magnolia.

Definitely! Even when I don’t know how it could possibly have happened!

you certainly do. You also bleed more easily too. If you have any heavy, unexplained bruising or bleeding it is important to let your Haematologist or GP know. It will usually turn out to be nothing serious but it's better to be safe than sorry. I once woke up with bloodshot eyes. By chance it was on a day when I had a Haematology appointment. I thought it was nothing much but, as it turned out, I was immediately admitted to Hospital and spent the next 5 days on a drip. It just goes to show, warfarin is funny old stuff and you never can tell.

All anticoagulants have the same side effects, were you not talked through these, or at least told to make sure that you read the information leaflet in the medication you were prescribed. For your own personal safety I would strongly recommend that that you read the information in all of the medication that you receive. Take care
