i got my results from my mri scan i have severe arthritis and other problems can i be retired early on medical grounds now? i have been off work since February this year..my consultant is sending me a report which he wants me to take to Occupational Health...what happens next?

In my experience Occupational Health will look at whether any adjustments can be made to help you back to your job. Retirement on health grounds is difficult to get these days, but being off sick helps.....I hope it works out for you if it's what you really want. I do find working distracts me from the pain and lifts my mood when I can actually get there. I'm on Rituximab now, which makes me relatively well. Glad I didn't leave when at my worst, although I'd have grabbed the chance if I could have. X

Medical retirement isn't automatic if you have a specific disease. It depends on how the disease affects you, and whether there is any treatment that can help. Has your consultant discussed treatment options?
