Methotrexate and bruising
I think you may need to avoid the bruised area. May need to check with your Rhuematology department or gp for advice
It seems to a problem for me too. I'm on 15mg Mxt and I just have to knock myself slightly and I get unsightly bruises and blood blisters. Horrible. I'm not on steroids so they are not to blame. I now have platelet tests in with my bloods, but these seem to be normal. I think this drug definitely affects the skin . Mine is so dry now and thinner, but hey ho it gets rid of much of the pain etc, so we carry on.
I have noticed this too. I started bruising very easily when I went from 12.5mg to 15 mg Methotrexate. I mentioned at my Rheumatology appointment that I was bruising easily and the consultant said "No". Presumably that's because she'd just looked at my blood test results and they were looking ok. I have noticed my skin is thinner as someone else has mentioned here.
Worth a phonecall to your GP or Rheumatology nurse (or whoever monitors your blood tests) just to check all is well with your blood tests.
