I would like to know how long Rituximab takes to work. I had my second infushion on the 4 th February just gone and still haven't felt any benefit in extreme pain in writs and elbow, any advice sould really help. Loosen faith waiting so long.

Hi Ritaalice.....

Ask for a Depo injection....I found that settled everything down & I'm off for my second set of infusions on Monday......having had 5 really good months with just the odd twinge in my right wrist ( my left arm was broken in December so I didn't count that pain as being RA related).

Saw Rheumy this week & he is pleased with my blood results & says he will keep a close eye before the next (will be third) infusions...he thinks I may be lucky & only need to have them every 12 months! RESULT!!

Hope you get good results too!

AC

Thank you for your kind words. Just wished it would kick in soon.

I'm interested to hear replies. I'm waiting to go on Rituxi, I've been on Humira for 11 months and it hasn't worked at all. So Rituxi is my next step.

I had rituximab in April last year and in January. It took 6 weeks or so to notice a difference , my lymph nodes reduced in size , i had less pain and more energy . It not perfect but i can now function much better . I wish you all the best

Hello, With my first cycle of Rituximab I had to wait ages for it to kick in and then only had a brief period of normality before it wore off. I had my 2nd cycle in April 16 and in March of this year my symptoms came back...I'm now in a lot of pain BUT have had nearly a year of no need for loads of painkillers or extra steroid jobs, I've not been back to normal but so much better than before...hopefully having my 3rd cycle in May as the hospital can not fit me in any sooner. Bear with it, it will get better and I hope you get a good result with Rituximab. 😊

My first 2 infusions back in 2014 took only a matter of weeks and in reality probably lasted a year, although I waited until I was really bad again and had my next two almost a year and a haf later. Had a bad three day flare last week but I blame my monthly cycle and now I feel fine again, although I shall keep a closer eye on when the pain suggests I''m ready for another cycle of Rutuximab. I'd say allow four weeks give or take for an improvement, sometimes it's a gradual realisation. The best of luck and gentle hugs. X
