does anyone use the infusion of MTX,,and does it seem to work better?
Just wondering,,,: does anyone use the infusion of MTX... - NRAS
Just wondering,,,
Do you mean injection?
Infusion usually only used for cancer:
High dose therapy: In several malignant diseases, including malignant lymphoma, acute lymphatic leukaemia, osteogenic sarcoma and metastatic choriocarcinoma, doses of 1000 mg methotrexate or more per m2 body surface area may be used, administered over a 24-hour period. High dose methotrexate therapy has to be followed by calcium folinate rescue therapy
yes injection also,,but I was also told that you can have it by IV,,im so new at this I have no idea about it all
A good place to start would be to look at the treatment pages on the NRAS website.
I have not heard of anyone with RD being given infusions of methotrexate but some of the biological drugs are given that way.
The injection of methotrexate is generally reckoned to be less prone to side effects than taking it orally.
I'm not sure but I think MTX is only administered by infusion in two instances.... at much higher doses (& on consecutive days not weekly) as chemotherapy treatment or alongside an anti-TNF or biologics. There are a few anti-TNF's but only one is admistered by infusion, infliximab (Remicade). MTX can be one DMARD used alongside, your nurse should be able to explain. Biologics administered by infusion, abatacept (Orencia), rituximab (Mabthera) & tocilizumab (Actemra), the latter either by infusion or injection, all can work well with MTX, again your nurse will explain. If you mean injections then yes, they're commonly prescribed, generally after first trying tablets.
Thank You all so much!!,,I love this site everyone is so caring and helpful!,,Finally I have found people who understand!!
