Air travel : I'm taking sulfasalazine and methotrexate... - NRAS
Air travel
I've travelled with Mtx and other meds in my hand bag with no trouble whatsoever . However, if you're more comfortable , get a letter from your gp or a prescription from pharmacist to take with you.
Enjoy the holiday.

When you say mtx I am assuming you mean the injectable type not the tablet form.
On the occasions that I Have been abroad In Have carried my meds in my hand luggage and have never encountered any problem up till now.
However I have always carried a copy of a letter from "healthcare at home" who supply the injections confirming that I am in receipt of this medication and a copy of the prescription in case I should need it.
With air travel controls getting stricter it is likely that this may be needed one day and I didn't want to find myself in a situation at the airport whereby I could not take meds with me.
So although you would probably be ok it would be sensible to get yourself covered in case the need should arise.
Enjoy your trip.

No they won't stop you flying........there are lots of myths about what drugs you can take on board aircraft. I was cabin crew for 25 years & never had a passenger complaining about drugs being confiscated before departure.
What does matter is what the rules are in the country you are travelling to.
Some parts of the world won't allow codeine to be imported......look up,where you are going on the Foreign Office Advice to Travellers website!
Also always take your prescription with you. Once in South Africa all my BP Pills fell off a shelf into very hot water & sort of disintegrated...as I had a scrip a local Pharmacist sold me some! £17 for one week's supply....so guard your pills etc with your life......I know the NHS can be problematic, but we still get our pills & potions at a better price than in most other countries!
Happy flying wherever you are going!l

I travel a lot and have never had a problem. Drugs always in hand luggage, and always carry prescription/letter with me but no-one has ever asked for it. And everything through the scanner, even injectable MTX, and no problems with that either.
Biological injections eg Enbrel should not go through scanner. Keep in hand luggage as hold may freeze. All my drugs go in hand luggage in case bags are lost. I carry repeat prescription and letter from hospital or hah to cover injections. The paperwork has been checked from time to time. Usually for injections
It's Mtx injections that shouldn't go through the scanner, Enbrel can, that's what healthcare at home have told me. I take me Enbrel in a cool bag along with a soup flask with very small ice packs in to top the cool bag up if needed. Healthcare at how sent me a thermomete so I can keep a check on the temperature. I tell them what's what at security, show them my letters, one from healthcare at home, the other from my consultant, they always swab the bag that the Mtx is in because it's not scanned. Never had a problem.
I also email the airline requesting an additional carry on bag to put the Enbrel and flask in so it doesn't use any of my normal allowance, again not a problem I don't think they can refuse because it's needed medication thats got to be taken into the cabin. I always print off the emails so I can show them at checkin. xx
