Yes on left foot too many times to count. If you've got them the injections do work for me at any rate but only put off an operation. I've had mine removed twice over the past 10 years. The injections just sting a bit as done guided by an ultra sound scan local anaesthetic on the way in then changed to the medication and put in place. You need to have a driver as you have to keep the weight off for a couple of days whilst the stuff settles in.
I've had good results but they don't always work, mine is done privately it costs about £250 in local private hospital.
Ive had a few in the hands and a few in my ankles, the hands were the ones that stung and if my hands dont settle down i think im going to have to get them done again
I've had them in hands and feet. It stings a little bit, but is very quick so over before you can really notice it too much. With my feet I couldn't drive afterwards, and need to plan it to try to have 24hrs doing very little. The day after my foot hurt much, much more but then pain went and has largely stayed away since. My hands were fine within an hour or so.
I don't recall them starting with an anaesthetic, but I wasn't really looking too hard. Perhaps that's the extra you get if go private! Anyway it didn't hurt.
Hi Mickey, I had an US guided injection in a foot a few weeks ago - Bursitis/Mortons-. Unfortunately it didn't work. The injection didn't hurt at all and as Helix says, the injected body parts are likely to hurt more for a few hours/day(s). I was told the not driving is because of insurance more than anything else. I hope you'll get relieve. Keep us up to date. All the best.
Hi Mickey
I had an US guided injection in my right hand Summer 2015.
It began to work within 48hrs.
What also helped a lot was having physio. This helped to strengthen all the muscles that had been wasting away over time from not using my right hand (I am right handed).
I did not feel any pain from the jab just a lot of pressure.
I hope the US jabs work for you.
Joy
I'm booked in to have this done on the 20th Jan 2017 in my feet to try and help OR pain which is not going away with the pain tables and it is now upsetting RA and fibromyalgia. so look forward to reading how you got on with them,
An injection for neuroma's is not like a general pain killing injection for RA. A neuroma is a benign tumour on a nerve ending, thats why when they get beyond an injection they are removed along with the nerves between the toes where the neuroma is located. A neuroma is like walking on a piece of glass and I had these a long time (10 years or more longer) before the RA set in, although I was told that they are usually linked. In my case insoles made the problem much worse and it is an orthopaedic surgeon who does the operation and injections not the RA team.
