I thought it was pretty scary reading. I don't take mtx although my rheumy has mentioned it a few times. The article would definitely put me off & yet it does halt the deterioration of the joints which I don't think he mentioned

When I was first diagnosed my rheumy gave me information to read on MTX which explained both good and bad things about it so I could make a choice. And I had lung x-rays before I started. So this article is no surprise.

At the end of the day it's a personal choice as to what risks you are prepared to take to keep your quality of life. MTX has been brilliant for me, as I can't function at all without it, so I'm very happy with the choice I made. And I am well monitored.

Did you read another article ( dated June '16 think) I saw when I was searching on the Daily Mail website for the article Moomin mentioned?

Apparently people in Australia have been seriously overdosing on Mtx because instead if taking their dose weekly that have been taking it DAILY.....either because of mislabelling by the pharmacist or the patient misunderstanding the doctor's instructions.

I timely reminder that we should listen the our GP/Rheumy & if in doubt ASK....don't just " take it anyway "!
