Further to my last post, I had my CT Thorax with contrast scan this morning. Up early for a light breakfast, so I could take my meds, as no food for 2 hours before. Left early as parking is a challenge, the traffic was appalling, so many road works. Did get a parking space eventually. A patient started complaining as we were waiting so long. It turns out the the CT scan we were booked on was being used for 3 emergencies, so we were fitted into another one, was chaotic there. When it was eventually my turn had to be canulated and keep my arm back, it was unsupported and thought it was going to drop off. Did find out they were undecided whether to cancel us or just fit us in. Luckily they chose the latter, maybe a word earlier would have explained what the problem was. Would not have been happy being sent home after a long wait. When I got home received the results for the Dexa scan I had a month ago, still low in my hip and femur, lumber spine ok, dispite newly dx OA in my lower back, so that's good news. Have to have an in depth bt and supply information on all my previous meds for osteoporosis, despite being with this hospital for years, they decided to thin everyone's file down. Just hoping my GP has all this information. The rheumy nurse will be doing a full review when I see her in January. And so it goes on.....sometimes feel like we are never done with hospitals and tests, even though it for our benefit. Not really a rant. Wishing you all a good weekend.

I don't know about you darling,but sometimes i get sick of hospitals. I had two appts this week at the same hospital. The first one the traffic round the hospital was appalling,hubby just dropped me and went and parked off the grounds as parking was a nightmare. The second trip we just sailed in,you couldn't believe the difference. The first one was on Monday during that horrible weather we was having and there were ambulances rushing out of the hospital like the clappers out of hell so there must have been a few accidents.xxxx
I agree Silvi, had 3 hospital appointments this week, I got parked in my local hospital ok, the other 2 are a nightmare, they are relatively new and designed without adequate parking, especially disabled spaces. When you sit in traffic for ages as well, you are already stressed before you get there. There was an outcry at the time they were built about the parking, their idea was you used public transport, they have pull ins for buses, all very well if you can use buses, neither is straight forward to get to. Hi Gigi - I was surprised that they thinned your files down (as in shredding the contents I presume)... We are on a government mandate over here to have everything electronic, and actually while I was not a fan initially, I am now. They have everything going back years and one provider can look at another providers notes which is good and bad. I don't have any psych records, but it seems to me that one might cause me concerns....
Hi Caeryl. I believe it's all meant to be on the computer, but whether they have time to look it up is another matter. The hospitals all have their own systems and my GP has his own too. Life would be much simpler if they all linked up. I am under 4 different heath authorities lol all they do is write to my GP. Xx
Ha ha - I love that "and all they do is write to my GP". What has happened here is actually nothing short of amazing. My doc (pick which one you want) will come in either alone or with a nursing assistant, and one will examine and one will document. My GP is the only one that will type and talk with me at the same time, and she listens so well, I don't mind that she is looking at the computer part of the time.
It's funny how we accept the situation here. Hospital letters to my GP take about 4 weeks on average. My surgery called on Thursday to say my doctor had issued prescription for a chemo cream for a pre cancer skin patch on my leg, I saw the dermatologist 3 and half weeks ago and asked if my doc could issue a prescription, as I couldn't wait at the hospital pharmacy because I had an appointment at another hospital that morning for physio. He said it would take a week.!! Luckily I had some, but it's was about 9 months old. It still worked. You have a much better system there. Xxx
Well, I guess I would say we have a much faster system here. And it had gotten better in the years prior to o/care when some lawsuits convinced hospitals that some people qualify for charity. Before that many, many people were bankrupted by their hospital bills. I used to run large medical center registrations / business offices for a living, and it was hard when people really had no, or little money.
Our system is a lot faster than yours for sure, but as someone said in these posts of thanksgiving ideas - no crippling debt.
Now we have o/care which has placed the burden of paying for insurance on the healthy young people, taking out of the system by the sick and older people and insurers running away in droves. Add the horrible rate increases that are coming next month, and massive multi-thousand dollar deductibles - it's not much of a system for many of the folks that are supposedly covered by it. Very frustrating.. and more than a little scary - Hope you are doing well. We have a fire going as it's taters out today! 
There are good points and bad in both systems. We pay for our healthcare through our national insurance contributions, apart from a break when I had my sons, I worked. There is a lot of abuse of this system. We could go on for hours and never solve it. When my cousin and husband went to live in New Jersey they had two young children and didn't know she was pregnant, was very ill and hospitalised without any medical insurance, the twins were 18 when they finished paying their debts off. Their med insurance costs them so much a month. Well it's cold here, so central heating on, went to feed my sons cat and back home now, nice and toastie. Glad your not taters !! Take care xxxx
