Did you have a chance to watch episode 2? What did you think? How did you experience it?

I found it very interesting and made several pages of notes - things to follow up. For example, what are these tests for intestinal permeability? Quite a few of the supplements I take are gut supportive - pre and probiotics, aloe vera etc, even though I don't suffer from any noticeable digestive issues. (Apart from when I throw up shortly after a dose of SSZ!) I will look into Betaine HCL again. I rejected it in favour of enzymes.
How about you?
I thought it gave quite a comprahensive view of how central gut health is in autoimmune and how central in decreasing inflammation in RA, since RA sufferers seem to have a genetic predisposition to develop gut permeability, leaky gut. Discribed well what happens in the gut when a person sensible to gluten goes on eating bread. I am also taking gut supporting supplements and try to keep away from NASIDs that have shown to cause leaky gut! A very effective supplement is glutathione, you might want to check that out😊
I do add n-acetyl-cysteine powder to some of my juices and that is a glutathione precursor. And I take other supplements which supposedly help with glutathione levels too. These include milk thistle, alpha lipoic acid, a B vitamin complex and slow release Vitamin C. I will look into whether homocysteine level tests are available as I think that would be very helpful.
The bit about the parasites made me a little worried! (Giardia was mentioned and my ears pricked up as I am familiar with the type that infect birds, but didn't know humans could be infected with it.) I started out with a candida cleanse last September, but the parasite cleanse sounded a bit harsh on the body so I decided it was unlikely that I was infested with parasites, and didn't go there!
I'm looking forward to tonight's programme about the biome.
Hi Simba! I liked it. It is similar to the "Truth About Cancer" series that I watched a while back. Like others, I made a few notes of things to follow up on.
We switched to a Keto diet about a month ago, and I think I feel better just giving up the wheat and most of the sugar.. It is hard to follow at time though - I love me some carbs!
Yes Caery, it's soooo hard to give up the carbs! Especially if you to a large extant have been getting your energy from them! I learned a very important fact about myself when going on the AIP diet. I was losing kilos rapidly, however much I ate and was constantly hungry. After having read Tom O'Bryans book The autoimmune fix, where he talks about the importance of stomach acid for the metabolisation of proteins and fat and that very often people think they have too much acid when they in fact have too little. The symptoms are the same! This turned out to be the case with me which had actually lead to a constant malnutrition! It was easily fixed with HCL with peptides.
We were veggie for almost 30 years, but didn't do it well. Mostly carbs and processed foods with salads thrown in now and then (smothered with dressing of course - ha ha). Then I found Zoe Harcombe and she convinced me that we were facing some of our issues because of our diets. We changed to the Harcombe Diet last year, then we decided we are not disciplined enough to keep our carbs low, and separated from proteins and fats. I'm losing weight slowly now (my hubby never weighs) -(about 8 pounds in the month) and I feel better - Also, we eat salads every day and are consuming more vegetables than when we were vegetarian - go figure - ha ha.
Stomach acid - yes... I started about five years ago with the cayenne capsules and that helped there... But it is a really good series...
I just stopped watching the third episode of Betrayal. It was SO good! Helped me integrate so many facts and see the whole picture clearer. I warmly recommend to watch it😊Whatever treatment route you choose I believe it is essential that you know as much as possible of how your immune system and body works. Knowledge makes you feel more in control and reduces stress. This documantary should be included in NRAS files. Every new diagnosed patient would have so much help watching this in understanding better the whole picture.

People are talking about TV series called betrayal, what network is it on, is this plying in US, or Canada, with Tom O'Brien?
