So aswell as the swelling I hand now I'm star acting to get shooting pains up and down my thumb 😔The pain is horrendous anybody else got this fed up is not the word

Hi, I have the same in mt thumb, which was brought on by a flare, which affected all down my right side. I had a steroid injection which helped but several parts of my body still are causing me issues. So I commiserate with you.

Yes and its another of the nany varied symptoms of RA, it is awfully painful and can combine with a static pain at the base of the thumb.

Suggest you read up on De Quervain's Syndrome. I had surgery for it at the same time as for Carpal Tunnel. DQS is relieved on the opposite side of the wrist to carpal tunnel and surgery there releases the tendon sheath that feeds from the wrist into the base of the thumb on the back of the hand.
