Hi ive just had another tooth out the dentist said it would take approx 5 days to completely heal over its taken about 7 so yeah it does take a bit longer when we have RA but it gets there. All the best at the dentists.

Hi I've had a couple of teeth out and it takes about a week to heal but please make sure you tell the dentist all your medications , they need to know what your on , which is what I had to do, good luck,

I have been wanting a tooth extraction for over a year but has iam not in pain my dentist won't take it out they will send me to the hospital as they say it takes 6 to7 weeks to heal with rheumatoid arthritis

Morning it's so easy to say Don't worry! Well don't worry, please tell your dentist about your condition, and all your meds.

I use a anti bacterial mouth wash, the dentist will probably issue a prescription for this if not ask.

Yes it probably will take slightly longer for all to heal, the dentist should give you a do and don't list.

And finally don't worry!! Lol warmest wishes Craig

I had 5 teeth taken out. Had to come off my Humira before and after. Also given antibiotics to prevent infection. Dentist spoke to my Rheumy consultant first. Took about a week to heal. Colgate Peroxyl mouthwash was recommended by dentist. I used that afterwards. You can use Corsodyl but that tastes foul! We can take a little longer to heal. Good luck.

Having all your teeth out is a big thing! Is there nothing else that could be done to help your teeth? It's really something to be avoided if at all possible, whether or not you have RA. Dentures are miles better than they used to be, but still have many problems.

Anyway, with such a big wound in your mouth you do really need to talk to your doctors and dentist about this and infections before they launch in and do it.

Don't know how many teeth you are wanting taken out but please don't make any decisions until you have spoken to your Rheumatology Consultant and/or your GP and your dentist. There is no going back once they are out. As others have said dentures are not always easy to get on with and implants are probably to be avoided with RA. They also cost a lot of money. If the teeth are very decayed and broken it may be they would be best out but you need your dentist and your doctors to advise on the health of the teeth and a way forward for you.

From your posts it sounds like your RA is not controlled and it may be you need to be reassessed and ask for a better treatment plan and then your teeth may settle. It may be your hole in your heart is also something that needs to be assessed and monitored and treated with antibiotics if you have extractions.

Sorry you are in the situation that you in. RD Is a terrible disease. Let us know how you get on and wish you well.

You say you are going to have 'all your teeth pulled'. But how many is that? I can't believe any GP dentist would want to pull more than say three in one session.

Hi my dentist was never keen to pull a tooth and kept filling it.I had a word with my Rheumy and he said for him to pull it and put me straight onto antibiotics which he did and i had no bother with it.

I've had two of mine capped in gold as dentist wouldn't take them out and my rheumy agreed with him, so think of other options.

I intend to keep my teeth ! and am lucky apart from an invisible fixed bridge which is down to an accident as a child and a tooth knocked out, I have a full set in fact at 63 I have a wisdom tooth coming through at this time. Which my dentist thinks is hilarious !

I think you must take the advice of the dental surgeon, your RA consultant and perhaps even your GP. As this is a huge undertaking. I'd have though it would be done in a hospital by a dental surgeon as well. I wish you well and that your tooth problems are quickly sorted out.
