Hi Kathy,

I just don't get down on th floor anymore because I can't get up!

I do have a very undignified rolling and groaning technique but I wouldn't recommend it.

😂 but seriously I know what you mean and I can't kneel down either! Last time I tried in the kitchen to get something from the back of the low cupboard I had to shuffle about fifteen feet on my knees which was very ouch, to the lounge sofa and hoist myself up via my elbows. 😜

Are you able to kneel on your knees? If you can kneel on your knees, put you hands on a steady chair and put one foot flat on the floor and push yourself up.

Very good question. I try to avoid getting there in first place, I have not been able to kneel for years. I end up with my bum in the air - feet and hands on the floor and pushing back with hands then using chair/settee to stand.

Same here, haven't knelt for years as it feels like I'm kneeling on lots of pebbles. If I'm on the floor I bum myself to a chair and roll over. I then get a cushion and kneel with one knee, it's very painful but push myself up. All very painful and need to sit to recover, totally undignified. Good luck xx

Its the weight on the wrists pulling up I find so painful! Even getting out of bed 8s a wriggling and turning event to behold but I'm getting there! M x

There are some devices that you fit under your mattress so you can put your weight on the support rail on them to stand up. I put my hand against the back of the bed/wall behind and push myself up. (Google bed rising aid. Many don't need any tools to fix etc and the weight of the mattress keeps the device secure. I was thinking of getting one a few years ago but then mobility improved enough to let me get up unaided. )

I'd avoid it even now with my new knees. But a physio might help with rolling round and up. But be careful with your hands and shoulders.
