Hi, can anyone offer me advice on taking temperature sensitive syringes on holiday? Mine are weekly injections of Tocilizumab and I don't want to miss my holidays! Thanks, Lesley

Hi Lesley, I'm on Humira ,health care at home supplied me with a cool bag which will keep them cool for about 24hrs then get them to a refrigerator. Some inj are good for 14days out of fridge if kept below 25 degrees. Hope this helps but check with your supplier.

Also take a temperature probe as some so called fridges don't perform as you would expect. I'e cruise ships so I take them to the medical unit.

Have a great holiday.

Regards Mike

Hi LesBev;

I took my injections in a bag designed for diabetics which had a cooling block inside; plus it's designed for carrying injection too. I also got a letter from health care at home for my enbrel and one from hospital for methotrexate to. Again most can be kept out of fridge for 14 days. I also got smaller sharps box from health to for putting them in while away so they are stored safely.

Enjoy your holiday the sunshine always helps to make your aches and pains feel so much better 😊🍹

From what I understand Tocilizumab has to be refrigerated all the time. Many products designed for insulin are not suitable for this type of medicine as insulin only has to be kept cool not cold.

I would check out the products from Medactiv they have packs that can keep cold for up to 36 hours.

medigenix.co.uk/medicube.html

See other products on the page link above.

I have the

medigenix.co.uk/icool-prest...

which will keep cold for 24 hours but thinking of getting the Medicube as we live in the north of Scotland and often need an overnight stay in Edinburgh or Glasgow before we fly out.

Hope this helps
