Travelling with biologics

I'm going travelling in Europe for 3 months this summer and won't have daily access to a fridge. I need a 12v chiller that I can run in the car for my biologics (I take Enbrel twice weekly) but can only find a tiny one that would only hold enough for a couple of weeks or something that will be too big (and too expensive). I'm sure I can't be the only one with RA to want to go on a long holiday so I'm sure someone out there can help.

Get a Frio cooling case, they are amazing and you can keep it being cool by running under water about twice a week

Unfortunately Frio products are not suitable Enbrel or any thing which needs to be kept at fridge temperatures. They are great for keeping things cool but cannot keep things at fridge temperatures.

Frio are brilliant for short journeys and I've used them successfully in temperatures up to 40 C for just a couple of weeks but I need something with a lower temperature to store 3 months supply of medication.

You need to get a compressor fridge such as this range

amazon.co.uk/Dometic-CDF-26...

There is a range of sizes.

Cheaper travel fridges can only cool by around 16C below ambient temperature. This means that if is 30C the inside of the fridge is 14C!!

Keep the fridge in your accommodation when possible. Make sure that the power stays on when you leave the room. Try to find shady parking if possible when travelling. Make sure that the fridge has some air space around it to allow it to work properly.

Try to download the manual for anything you are interested in before making your decision.

Thanks Scottishlad, that's exactly the type of thing I'm looking for but what I need is something much smaller and lighter. In fact I found a Dometic version with a smaller capacity and it's still huge - I need something just big enough to carry 25 syringes which take up about 5 x 8 x 13 cms with the removable finger supports taken off. There must be something available out there because there are millions of insulin dependent people who face the same medication storage issues as we do so I'm not giving up yet.

How about something like this:

You and I are definitely on the same wavelength, I've looked at these too :-) There are lots of similar ones this size but I could only get about a month's supply into one of these, even with the plunger supports removed :-(

Not what you're looking for?
