Folic acid and indegestion

Just had my folic acid increased to 5mg daily except Methatrexate day.  I'm now suffering with indegestion.  Is that common? I have never been one to suffer so I'm thinking must be that.  I take it in the evening.  Ugh just one thing after another..

Try taking it in the morning instead and see if that helps.xxxxx

I'm on 17.5mg MTX subcut & take folic acid 6 days. It's not caused indigestion for me, not something I have unless I've eaten unusually rich food. You haven't been prescribed an NSAID (anti inflammatory) or taken over the counter ones recently have you?

No not on any NSAIDs at all.  I won't take them as I read I shouldn't.  I checked with my nurse team and they said they can cause some indegestion and I could try taking alternate days and see or as I've on,y just increased see if it settles down.

That's a shame you won't take NSAIDs, many of us find them helpful & form part of our long term prescribed treatment but of course if you shouldn't that's best. I'm pleased you contacted your team, always best to if unsure of something as we all react to meds differently & they know your history, we don't. You could try taking your tablet with a bit of food, a biscuit or a piece of bread if you don't already & it continues taking them on alternate days, that can sometimes stop indigestion from tablets. I hope your side effects don't rise to the surface again. If you've not yet changed to injections it may help to split your dose through the day.... I took my MTX tablets (15mg at the time) 2 with breakfast, lunch & dinner, taking your dose with meals may help if your tum troubles start again.
