Any advice on how to reduce swelling on my knee. I can't rest too much this week as I am stupidly busy at work ( mobile hairdresser)

Would bandaging help?

Try to take weight off it as much as possible. Frozen peas compress can help. Rest with knee up. Hope you can rest a bit from standing all day

Hello Millie, my knee also swelled up recently, nurse advised not to bandage up but one day I had to work and used a knee support which was magic! Warning though, I never rested it as Cathy suggests which then caused me to overuse right side and ended up in crutches until I received a steroid shot into ankle 😢

You have to be so careful now, rest, ice and elevate was the best advice I received from the lovely bunch on here!!

Ice packs, do you have some yet? Can you take them on you rounds and ask if you can pop in freezer? You must get offered a cuppa wherever you go? Take it and ask to elevate that knee, you may run behind but it's important to look after yourself otherwise you'll nugget it up!! (not nugget but It won't let me swear!! Haha)

I'm a hair educator of sorts so I completely empathise, don't and I mean don't feel sorry for all the clients who haven't booked and beg you to do their hair before Xmas!! Any cancellations, keep it quiet and rest 😁

Good luck x

Yes I was just discussing with a fellow hairdresser about people who want to get in the last minute, no chance this year I can't handle it!

Yes I have ice packs and will try to rest in-between but not that easy.

May try a support bandage tho.

There was plenty of nuggets being produced by the end of today 😉 Haven’t started any meds apart from Naproxen yet.

1 more heavy week then 2 weeks off HOORAY - If I last that long.😵

Happy New Year.

Surviving? Just 😓. Sorry have been off the radar had a lot of other issues to deal with all very stressful.

I have finally got a appointment with Rheumatologist on 28th Jan so I can hopefully find out what is wrong with me?

I do have a doctor friend who runs a pain clinic who said she would get some help for me however it's 150 miles away?

We were discussing things and there is a possibility I may have Lyme? I was bitten by a spider or tick a couple of years ago had some negative tests back but I am still suspicious?

I am going to start another post on that.

My symptoms are strange and worsening.

Not happy and starting back at work on Tues.. Can I do it? My tendons in wrists, hands ankle are very painful too as well as the knee.

At a loss what I can do to help myself?

Swelling gone down quite a bit slept with a pillow under my leg seemed to help?

Yes, raising leg at night will help. Can you have a stick to hand so you keep weight off it as much as possible? And might make clients feel sympathetic too.

I know it's your busy period and you need your clients - but you only have 2 knees and you need them both, so reAlly think hard about minimising use as much as possible. Ask people to fetch you things rather than getting them yourself, and don't make any uneccesary trips.
