My G.P. has prescribed "Solaraze" gel as a treatment for my skin cancer, but my research suggests

it should not be applied to broken skin (which I have) and it is primarily for sunburn, any advice or comments please.

It is definitely the right gel for actinic keratoses (solar keratoses) which is considered a type of early skin cancer. I have had it for these, though I don't think I had badly broken skin. Check with whoever prescribed it for you. I have used it on areas where the skin is quite flaky, but probably wouldn't if it was a very raw area.

Its not a treatment for sunburn, but solar keratoses happen often as a result of repeated and prolonged sun exposure (including sunburn). I used to live in a country that had very high UV levels, which is why I have ended up with them. You don't use solaraze to treat sunburn - you use it to treat the damage caused by repeated sunburn or sun exposure.
