This is my 3rd Monday on Mthx and this morning (Thursday) I have felt sick but only a bit bile came up and I've had really bad stomach pains and runs from the other end. Is this Mthx or do you think I have the sickness & Dihorrea bug ? Ive mnot taken any of my other medication because I feel so sick.

Hi this monday was my 3rd week on mthx i have had very bad nausea and terrible fatigue my poo turned black for a couple of days but back to normal now ,,and touch wood today i had no nausea ,so maybe yours is the mthx too,hope you feel better soon,x

I slept till 5pm rang my rheumy help line. She said maybe 6 pills were too strong for me. But I have a app for bloods on Tues. I explained I hadnt been able to take any of my other meds. It could be virus but if I was no better by the wkend contact my Doctors - I go away on 2wks hol to Turkey on Wed - bet I dont get there. X thanks for your concern. X

awww bless you lets hope it is just a virus im sure you will get to Turkey ,i started on 3 tabs for 2 wks then went up to 4 on Monday i also take 400mg a day of hydrox,,which ive be on for a year now,,let me know how you go on,x

i expect you will get more advice from other members ive not got much knowledge im always posting questions on here everyone is so helpful and always ready to listen and give what advice they can its a great group i dont know what i would do without them,x

Yes I agree Ive learnt more on this site than from the medical system. Google a great help but not as much as the people who are actually goin thro it. X

Early weeks on MTX can be a bit iffy but side effects often subside as the weeks go on. What you're experiencing is a common one but it's worth persevering. You may find if your dose is reduced it & the side effects subside the dose will be increased gradually until the correct dose (& manageable one) is found. You don't say what dose of folic acid you've been prescribed so that may need increasing a little.

I hope this rotten time passes, it can be miserable?. MTX is a good DMARD for many, myself included.

Thank - I thought I wad dying I had the sweats too. I'm on the smallest dose of folic acid. I rang the rheumy helpline got a reply 3hrs later saying it was prob the mthx to stop taking or it could be a virus see my Doc after wkend - its a Bank holiday ! But I go for bloods on Tues sort it out then she said 6 pills is alot to start with they will prob reduce to 4.

I know, it's awful. I would ask if they'll let you increase your folic acid. I've been loads better on 5mg each day except MTX day. I hope you notice a reduction in your levels on Tuesday, that will help you I'm sure. I'm having my bloods done on Tuesday too, had an increase in dose so I'm being monitored fortnightly at the mo.
