Saw my rheumatologist today and he suggested an injection as I can't tolerate oral Meds. Can anyone give me some information on this?

Injection for osteoporosis
I know if two people with this but each have different injections, one has a yearly one and the other has six monthly, not sure if this is what your referring to.
All depends what the injections are, are they DMARDS

I'm in a similar position. I'm not taking anything for it just now whilst my waiting for my Rheumy to reply to a letter sent by my GP asking for her suggestion as she (Rheumy) didn't think her (GP) suggestion of trying an infusion was a good idea, she thought I'd experience the side effects I have on the two oral ones I've tried but multiplied. Third week of waiting now & my GP says if she's not heard anything by the end of this week she'll take the lead & prescribe as she feels is best. I'm also waiting for my Rheumy to refer me to an Osteo Clinic, requested in the same letter.
I'll be interested to read any replies you have. I had a full med review by my dispensing Pharmacist today & whilst she understands why I'm not taking a bisphosphonate she's not impressed I've not had an answer yet & I'm now over a month without one.
Thank you for your replies. It's not a dimard as I have had an infusion for my RA but my DEXA scan was poor so an injection has been suggested. Dr is going to speak to metabolic clinic to see if they will let him do the injection/infusion. Must say he's on the ball.
Hi Marm
Might be worth asking NOS (National Osteoporosis Society):
I hope they can help.
