I am starting an Enbrel shot once a week and am looking for any information from others who have tried this treatment. I also have type 1 diabetes and am hoping this treatment works and provides me with some relief without affecting my BG levels. Thanks!

I was on Enbrel and it was my wonder drug :) Sadly I was allergic to it. I came out in quite big allergic reactions at the site of the injection, it happens but not to everyone. I There are quite a lot of stories on people on here on it without any problems. I am on Humira now which is a similar drug to Enbrel which is working but doesn't have the same ompphhh as Enbrel. Honestly the next day after taking Enbrel I felt 20 years younger the fatigue went immediately my esr was at its lowest ever.

Iwish you the very best luck on this as it is a wonderful drug.

Jeanette :)

Thanks very much for your reply! I appreciate any info on this drug. I hope it helps me and I am not allergic to it as I'm pretty sensitive. sorry to hear you weren't able to stay on it due to an allergy as it sounds like it really works! Fatigue is horrible for me so my fingers are crossed!

Thanks!

Lindsay

That is what I miss about the Enbrel it really controlled the fatigue so fingers crossed for you. Make sure you take injection out of fridge about 40 minutes before you inject it is less stingy then but don't be worried about the stingy as it is only for seconds and the results are soworth it. I just used to inject in my stomach right one week left side the next. I founddoing it in the thigh hurt. You should have a nurse be with you first time of injecting and she stays for an hour to make sure you are ok.

Hi Jeanette, thanks for taking time to reply to my question! I am more excited now then nervous about starting Enbrel. Wonder drug sounds promising to me! Fatigue is what weighs me down the most so I am hopeful! And of course the pain also slows me down! I cannot wait to have my first shot! My fingers are crossed :)

I am taking Enbrel and it has been wonderful. It began working within 2 weeks. I did have a nasty site reaction around week five but that has settled now. I find an ice cube on the place you will inject into helps take the sting away. ( I just hold it on there for about 5 minutes before I do the injection.) I would say just watch out for any signs of infection and get advice straight away.

Enbrel has been amazing for me and I really hope that it works as well for you.

Thanks so much for replying to my question! I will most certainly keep my eye out for any infection as I'm also a type 1 diabetic. I hope it is as amazing for me as it is for you and others on this site. And I hope your site area continues to stay settled.

I have been on it for 6 weeks. I have multiple chemical sensitivities and it has worked really well mostly on fatigue so far. O am just off it as I have had bronchitis and severe asthma but hope to be back on it next week. I have site reactions, but nothing bad just red and itchy.I will be starting on injections twice weekly as it wasn't quite holding me on the injection pen. I was told to take antihistamines if I had site reactions but they didn't do much for me so don't take them. I agree abdomen is much less stingy than legs and yes take it out 40 minutes prior to injecting. Good luck and hope you have success with it too.

Thank you for your reply! This online forum has such amazing and supportive people and I am glad I found it! Great advice on the antihistamine. i will keep that in mind. And I will stick to my abdomin for injections.

I've been on Enbrel for about four years, it's great. I was quite nervous taking it as I read all the problems about skin reactions. Thank goodness never had one. I would reiterate the previous reply about ensuring its up to room temperature, less sting. Being big busted I sit my syring under my boob and it warms up well. It has certainly helped me, good luck.

Thanks very much for your reply! I am also big busted so I will warm the shot that way also. I have my fingers crossed this drug will help me. So far The other haven't.

Great idea, but just make sure it doesn't get above room temp though or it may render it ineffective if it gets too warm.
