Pinky Finger
Oh my gosh i'm no help but something similar happened to me a few weeks back but it was my little toe! I took my shoes of in a shoe shop only for my toe to separate from rest and go rigid, couldn't get my shoe back on and hobbled out with only one shoe on!!Haha shouldn't laugh but was freaky. Thankfully it went back into place after 30mins. Are you able to ring your rheumy nurse for advice?
Hope you get it sorted soon
Hi Racmiles
I agree with Wiliby that you should get medical advice. It could be that inflammation is making it hard to bend or is pushing on the soft tissue around the joint, such as the tendons, but best to check with your own rheumatology team what they think it is and what you should do about it. If you can't speak to them it may be worth seeing your doctor.
I hope you manage to speak to someone about it soon.

Have you knocked it or bent it towards the back of the hand when pulled on the tendon. The pinky finger is weak and is easy to break or extend the tendons and nerves. If we also have problems with RA the tendon sheaf can become restricted in movement as can the joint. This can restrict the use of the finger. Generally we do not use the little finger as much as the others and not realize we have knocked it or pulled it back when sleeping Try a hot or cold compress or run it under the tap.
If you have a problem, discuss with your GP or have xrays taken. Generally the bone in that finger are not as strong as the other ones

I have this in my two index fingers and thumb, rheumy gave me ultrasound last week at my appt and no inflammation just fluid around the tendons.hope this helps michelle xx
If you have Rheumatoid Disease I would contact your Rheumy nurse, it could be due to inflammation & need a little help to release it or could even be a damaged flexor tendon. I would see your GP if you can't see your nurse, it needs investigating so you know just what it is & have it released if that's what it needs.
I hope you see someone soon, .
Actually I have had the same thing a few times but my 'pinky' finger was flat against the palm of my hand! I had no pain at all. The finger just was flat againstmy palm. I lay in bed staring at it, couldn't believe it. No pain but it didn't respond to my 'willing'it to move back up withmy other fingers. It did eventually go back into position onits own as the day went on. This has happened a few times on my left hand only..... very strange!
