Low white cells is an operation advisable.

For the last 2 years I have been treated for R/A, approx. 9 months ago following a regular

blood test my white b/count registered 0.2 all medication was stopped until it rose to 4.5+ it never did, I then had 2 bone marrow biopsy's, then had a course of 6 injections of Nivnestim over a 3 week period, white cell count rose to 2.6 but is now static. Present medication 15mg Methotrexate (weekly) 5mg Folic Acid (daily).Approx. 2years ago I had an accident and collapsed 3 disks in my lower back, do you think they will operate when I have such a low b/count, and anybody any experience of repair.

In general you will get a pre op assessment where they will check you are well enough for the op, so do X-rays, bloods etc. Often you have to liaise the docs so that the Rheumy is involved as they often take you off your Rheumy drugs( they suppress the immune system so that may increase the chance of infection. )

I had spinal fusion and cage and discs out in my cervical spine and all went very well, I haven't had lower back done so sorry I don't know eh at that feels like, but the staff in spinal were amazing . And I healed quickly.
